The people of the Shang Dynasty were polytheistic, meaning they worshiped many gods, the most recognized god being Shang Ti, the "lord on High." He was thought to have been the connection between people and heavenly beings. Even though they worshiped gods as much as they did, they mostly worshiped their ancestors. They believed their ancestors decided how the crops would do, what the weather would be like, and any other important matter, it just depended on whether or not they were happy. If their ancestors were happy good things would happen and their lives would be prosperous. If not, tragedy would occur.

The Shang Dynasty ended about in 1050 B.C.E. This happened because the Zhou conquerors invaded the capital and toke over the civilization. The Zhou conquered the Shang king just because they thought the Shang leader was evil and he wasn't wanted by the heaven to rule the civilization anymore. This was an important time in our history.
